  These are one of those decorations you’ll keep finding new places for. 

   

  Fine strands dotted with little berries make these garlands wonderfully delicate. They add colour and texture without taking over, so they work beautifully with things you already have around the house.

   

  In autumn, we love them draped over a few sprigs of fresh eucalyptus on the mantelpiece. As Christmas approaches, move them to the table and weave them loosely through boughs and greenery for an easy festive centrepiece. Wind one around a wreath, trail it across a shelf, dress a mirror or simply drape it over a doorway. That’s exactly how we have them in the shop, and they look simple but stunning.

   

  Choose rich red for a traditional festive feel, or dusky blue for something a little different. Neither needs to be saved for Christmas, which makes them far more useful than decorations destined for a few weeks of the year.

   

  And, of course, there’s no wilting or dropping needles. When you’re finished, tuck your garland away and bring it out again next year.

   

  The only tricky bit is deciding where to put it first.
