Frankincense essential oil
Soothing in massage.
One of the most familiar oils to us all from the tale of the three wise men, this oil has been used for both aromatherapeutic purposes and in perfumery for centuries. Heady and powerful, it's also a wonderful skin oil, particularly effective for more mature skins as it has such strong regenerative and restorative qualities. It also has antiseptic and analgesic properties, and can be very soothing used in an oil burner – try mixing it with rose for a very special massage oil.
As a safe guide, use no more than eight drops in a bath for a skin-nourishing soak, two or three drops in a foot spa (or a washing up bowl for the old fashioned among us...) and no more than six drops per 100ml of base or carrier oil.
At the bottom of this page, we have included three oils that go well with this.
