Safety Razor with Bamboo Handle
Shaving: Most of us do it. Unfortunately, billions of plastic razors and cartridges are thrown away every year. They cannot be recycled as the metal is embedded in plastic which is a disaster for the environment. Luckily, there are better options. These safety razors are an effective swap for plastic-free shaving and were widely used before the mass production of single-use razors.
The zero-waste razors use one single blade made from stainless steel. Thus, the blades are easily recyclable but it's wise to store them in a tin until you can safely do that. How often the blades need to be replaced depends on shave frequency and hair type, this can vary from a few weeks to months. Double edge safety razor blades are economical and can be bought here (but you will get one with this razor).
We like this one and decided to stock it for a lot of reasons, it's got a nice weight to it, so it feels positive in your hand, it's not so heavy that it drags on your skin and it's not so light that you're not sure where it is. The handle is a good length and the bamboo construction means you can always get a good grip on it, even when wet. It works out to be an economical way to shave too, so it's one of the plastic-free swaps that just makes the most sense.
